Where a Vanuatu Passport Works Well
A Vanuatu passport provides visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 90+ countries and territories, concentrated in Asia-Pacific and select Commonwealth nations, including destinations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and much of Southeast Asia. For clients whose current passport requires visas for these regions, this can meaningfully simplify travel and business access across Asia.
Where It Does Not Apply: Read This First
We believe in setting this expectation clearly, upfront: a Vanuatu passport is not currently visa-free for the United Kingdom, the European Union/Schengen area, or the United States.
- United Kingdom: the visa waiver was terminated by the UK government on 19 July 2023, citing misuse of citizenship-by-investment schemes.
- EU/Schengen area: the European Council fully suspended Vanuatu's visa waiver in early 2023 for the same reason.
- United States: Vanuatu has never been part of the US Visa Waiver Program, so a US visa is required regardless.
